Kaiser celebrates Food Day with grants

Show your passion for nutritious meals with the return of Food Day

News Radio 1190 KEX plans to broadcast a short piece about Food Day on Sunday and Monday mornings, 10/23 and 24. Info will be included sporadically in news updates that broadcast every 15 minutes. News reporter Jim McLaren interviewed Nancy Becker of Oregon Public Health Institute for the story. The full interview (7-10 min) will likely be included again on Sunday, October 30 at 6:00 PM as part of the station’s Public Affairs show.

News Radio 1190 KEX Public Affairs show scheduled for Sunday, October 23 at 6:00 PM will feature an interview with John Burt of Farmers Ending Hunger, a 7-year old non-profit created to bring nutritious food to those who need it most. This organization is one of six that will conduct outreach at PSU farmers market on Saturday, October 22 as part of Portland Farmers Market’s celebration of Food Day.  www.farmersendinghunger.com

Fox 12 More Good Day Oregon featured a Food Day segment on October 11. Ruth Carey, media representative for the Oregon Dietetic Association, who is also a nutrition expert on Fox 12 will prepare and present the segment.

The Superintendent’s Pipeline, Oregon Dept of Education’s newsletter for school superintendents, included a full-page article in the September issue. The article focused on Farm to School Month, Food Day, and the Oregon Harvest to School Program. These are three new initiatives for schools to celebrate. Thanks to Michelle Markesteyn Ratcliffe and Megan Kemple for major support with the article! Check it out in the latest Pipeline.

Green Living Journal (a Portland/Columbia River region publication) included a write-up about Food Day on Page 6 of the Local Notes section of the fall issue.

In Good Tilth, the publication of Oregon Tilth, included mention of Food Day in the Calendar Listings of their September/October issue.
